None of the economic predictions I’ve seen about a Brexit world have considered free trade. They all assume we try to negotiate a deal as close to what we have now or the default WTO rules. I’ve banged on about the wider good of true free trade not the isolationist and protectionist EU flavour of trade. It’s not just me (mad crazy cabbage nosher) thinking about this. The Economic & Social Research Council have commissioned a project to study “Governance and Economic Integration through Free Trade Agreements”.
